Multiple/Single Subjects Credentials
Elementary (Multiple Subject) Teaching Credentials authorizes the holder to teach in self-contained classrooms (i.e., classroom settings in most elementary schools). Download CTC’s leaflet CL-561c for more information.
Secondary (Single Subject) Teaching Credentials authorizes the holder to teach the specific subject(s) named on the credential in departmentalized classes (i.e., middle schools and high schools). Download CTC leaflet CL-560c for more information.
Multiple and Single Subject teachers first receive a five-year Preliminary Credential. To earn a Clear Credential, teachers participate in the North Coast School of Education’s North Coast Teacher Induction Program (NCTIP).
Each teaching credential has a unique set of standards that must be met in order to obtain the California Clear Credential. Upon completion of NCTIP’s Teacher Induction Program and any additional credential requirements, Multiple/Single Subject teachers are eligible to apply for their Clear Credential.
