TECH 255 Using Educational & Assistive Technology Effectively for Instruction & Assessment (SCCOE)

This course provides opportunities for interns to get hands-on experience with a range of technologies to facilitate the teaching and learning process. Each candidate will develop an assistive technology classroom plan to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the appropriate use of technology for assessing verbal and non-verbal communication skills, developing needed augmentative and alternative systems, information collection, analysis and management in the classroom. Interns present how they use assistive technology including low and high-tech equipment and materials to facilitate communication, curriculum access, and skill development of their students. Interns provide evidence of developing meaningful classroom assessments and using assessment data to plan instruction, including opportunities for interaction, and communication methods in mild/moderate classrooms. Interns will also explore technology mastery, various technology tools, applications and resources aligned with California Standards for Technology and the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) in conjunction with State Academic Standards in K-12 moderate to severe classrooms.
