Designated Subjects Program Year 1 Curriculum, Lesson Planning & Assessment - 11/12/19 Virtual

In this class, Candidates evaluate students’ academic readiness, language proficiency, cultural background, and individual development to plan instruction. They apply their working knowledge of subject matter, academic content standards, and curriculum frameworks to promote access to curriculum and design essential questions. Candidates explore the purposes, characteristics, and appropriate uses of different types of assessment (e.g., formative, summative, IEP, 504s, English Learners) as well as the process of collecting and analyzing assessment data from multiple measures and a variety of sources and using the data to inform instruction. Candidates discuss how to use the data to establish learning goals and to plan, differentiate, and modify instruction, as well as how to communicate student progress to students and families.
