California Classified School Employees Teacher Credentialing Grant

Sonoma County Office of Education was awarded the California Classified School Employees to Teacher Credentialing Program Grant on behalf of interested districts within the regional consortium and North Coast School of Education Satellite Networks. Due to new available slots, the Sonoma County Office of Education is announcing the re-opening of the California Classified School Employees to Teacher Credentialing Program Grant application.

The Commission on Teacher Credentialing grant funding is available to provide financial assistance for the life of the grant to current classified staff to become multiple subject, single subject, or special education credentialed teachers. Grant funds are provided as a reimbursement to recipients, up to $2,800/year.

Grant award money can be used for: *

  • Undergrad/credential program tuition
  • Program fees
  • Textbooks
  • Testing fees (CBEST, CSET, etc.)

* Receipts required for reimbursement

The grant can support classified employees completing their degree at an accredited university and/or teaching credential at a CTC approved education preparation program.

Eligibility
Any classified employee in a school, district or county office who meets the following criteria is eligible to apply for the grant:

  • Must hold a classified position at time of application
  • Holds an AA degree or has completed 60 units of college coursework (transcripts required)

How To Apply

If you previously applied for this grant but were not awarded funds, your application is still on file. Please email your interest in being re-considered to Yesenia Rivas-Suarez at yrivassuarez@scoe.org.

Step 1:
Complete this short application. Due date: Friday, April 8, 2022 at 5:00pm.

Step 2:
Email two letters of recommendation to Yesenia Rivas-Suarez at yrivassuarez@scoe.org. Due date Friday, April 8, 2022 at 5:00pm. Letters may be sent from grant applicant or directly from person providing recommendation.

*One letter must be from a current supervisor. Both letters should speak to the applicant’s disposition, anticipated success, career goals and independent work ethic.

Step 3:
Send transcripts verifying minimum of 60 units/AA completed to Yesenia Rivas-Suarez at yrivassuarez@scoe.org. Due date: Friday, April 8, 2022 at 5:00pm. If you have completed your degree, please send in transcript that shows completion. (Unofficial transcripts are accepted.)

Grant Funding Announcements:

All grant applicants will receive information regarding grant selection by April 22, 2022 via email.
